Ok, this is the first review I’ve ever done. Since there are others on the market for a much lower cost I questioned if I should get the cheaper one and modify it somehow or not. But in the end I decided that if I’m going take this with me on a mountain bike on mountain trails with rocks and drop offs then I want my DROID X to be as safe as can be. I know this is listed for a motorcycle but the diameter of the handlebars are the same, and no I have not tried this on my motorcycle yet, I’m sure it would hold up just fine. The finger grips are really strong and I have taken this with me on a few mountain bike rides with some fairly technical terrain and have not had a single problem. The phone stays tight and secure. I hook up a blue tooth stereo head phone AND a blue tooth heart rate monitor while I ride so it sits right in front of me where I can access the screen to change songs or check my heart rate or watch the GPS tracking device. There are 2 ball joints for nice adjustability.
The downside if you could call it that is its kinda big. Not massive, but a droid x is a fairly large phone so you’d expect that, but the plus side of it being big is that its got strength so when I hit a jump the phone aint going anywhere. And yes, I’ve hit quite a few jumps on some very bumpy terrain, not a 5 foot drop off mind you, but some fairly decent ones, and yes I would feel confident that the phone would stay on if I hit a 5 foot drop off. The other downside is that the U-joint connector that connects to the handlebars could have benefited from a better fit, and something to keep from scratching the paint, but if I was that worried about the paint I could just put some tape underneath or something to protect it.
It came with different size finger joints for the phone you just have to use the one that best suites your needs. AND the really nice thing is that the cradle the phone fits in, comes off rather quickly so if you wanted to just buy additional mounts for the car, or another bike (say you have a roadie bike a motorcycle and a mountain bike) the cradle will adapt to just about any of them out there made by RAM (as long as RAM says it will mount to it).
None of the negatives would deter me from purchasing this again if I had to. Its really nice and another thing is that its better than riding with the phone in your pocket because you don’t have to feel that rubbing against your leg as you pedal. Also, the blue tooth heart rate monitor cannot be behind you, and the wireless headphones get a better signal with the phone in front of you as well. Also, my phone is not positioned like they have it in the item picture, but rather the phone if facing horizontal (as opposed to vertical in the picture)and with the ball joints its sits right above stem with the phone facing upwards at me.

Actually bought this for my mountain bike. This is so well built that I decided to use it on my motorcycle instead. This mount is heavy and I shouldn’t complain, because it is very well built, just not something I would recommand for serious bike riders. Still an awesome product and would highly recommend for motor bikes.

I bought the ram for my bike and use it every time I ride. I was a little reluctant at first to put my new cell phone into it but the different size rubber grips keep it secure even over bumps. Its meant to stick up like the picture but you can mount it flush and in the center with a provided piece. Great mount thanks.
